Five Questions to Ask on Your Beauty School Tour
So you’ve inquired about beauty school and booked your tour — now what? The way to make the most of your tour and choose the right school for you is by taking the time to prepare a few questions in advance. Here are five we recommend!
WHAT MAKES THIS SCHOOL DIFFERENT?
Knowing what sets one school apart from another is extremely important. You want to make sure you’re learning from the best and getting the most from your education, right? Look for a school with an in-depth curriculum, has you working on real clients, and provides you with high-quality tools. Also, make sure the school’s values align with yours. Our institute values practices and products that are eco-friendly, cruelty-free, and vegan, which sets us apart from most other schools!
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE CURRICULUM?
Some schools may not cover everything other schools do, and in hairstyling it’s best to have a variety of skills and techniques under your belt. Our curriculum covers cutting and styling (including barbering!) on different hair textures and types, colouring, braiding, extensions, and retexturing treatments. We also offer skill-building classes like social media, marketing, business skills, and financial literacy so you’ll have everything you need to start your career and build your client base!
WHAT’S THE SCHEDULE LIKE?
Many students don’t want to spend three or four years in school to get a degree. We get it! We offer flexible program options depending on how you want to learn.
Our program is 10 months (1400 hours), and we offer 3 schedule options to help school fit your life! Our Standard Program is Tuesday-Saturday in-house, and our Hybrid program has 2 options: Wednesday-Saturday or Tuesday-Friday.
Both pathways include the same hands-on education and training. The difference is simply how your weekly schedule is structured. These options are designed to help you balance life commitments, gain real client experience, and start preparing for your apprenticeship while in school.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS FOR FINANCIAL AID?
You may not have money saved for tuition, but that doesn’t mean you have to put your dreams on hold! We offer personalized financial planning consultations so we can find the right options for your needs. Over 80% of our students choose Manitoba Student Aid (MSA) because it’s an affordable, accessible way to invest in your education. Many students qualify for 100% funding or more! We’re here to help, making the process simple and stress-free — even if it’s your first time applying.
DO YOU HELP ME FIND A JOB AFTER?
One of the most common questions students ask is: “What can I do with this after I graduate?” Our students work on an average of 100 guests during their training, and our schedules are designed to help many begin their apprenticeship while still in school. Some students are even hired before they graduate! We also have strong relationships with high-end salons in the city who come to us when they’re hiring. Alongside resume-building classes, we also provide extra training like guest recruitment to give our students a strong advantage in the industry.
Students are also invited to our annual Industry Day in October, where you can meet employers, explore real career opportunities, and start building connections before you graduate—so you’re not just preparing for the industry, you’re already stepping into it.
